MATT DAYES North Carolina State’s junior running back gained 205 yards and scored on two long first-quarter runs — 85 and 57 yards — as the visiting Wolfpack topped Wake Forest, 35-17, ending their road skid in the series between the intrastate rivals.

The losing streak in Winston-Salem had frustrated the eventual N.F.L. quarterbacks Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson and Mike Glennon, who played at North Carolina State. The Wolfpack had not won there since 2001, when Rivers — now a 12-year N.F.L. veteran — was a sophomore.

MATT JOHNSON Bowling Green’s redshirt senior quarterback passed for five touchdowns for the third consecutive game, and the visiting Falcons shut out Kent State, 48-0.

Johnson, who also ran for a 4-yard score, was 27 of 40 for 430 yards.

Johnson, the nation’s passing leader, has thrown for more than 400 yards in six of the Falcons’ eight games and has totaled 3,321 yards…
