Stephen Curry to play in professional golf tournament

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will take his game to the golf course, competing in a Web.com Tour event later this summer.

Curry will play in the Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae in the Bay Area, the tour announced Wednesday. The tournament begins July 31 with a partner pro-am. The tournament is Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 3-6. 

He will compete on an unrestricted sponsor exemption.

Last month Curry appeared on David Feherty’s Golf Channel show and was asked about playing golf as a second career. “I have the passion for the game I think to fight though whatever it would take,” Curry said during the interview, according to Golf.com.  I don’t know if that’s in the cards after I’m done playing, but I will still be playing golf until it’s over.”

Curry is a solid golfer, who has a 2.2 handicap. He once was 0.6,GolfDigest reported.
