Predators' David Poile: 'The record speaks for itself'

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — With the Predators enjoying a day off in Southern California on Thursday, general manager David Poile shared his thoughts on the team’s 7-1-1 record and other matters:

What has impressed you most about the team’s 7-1-1 start?

The record speaks for itself; what we saw coming into training camp, I guess you could say the continuity, the few changes that we made, the confidence was there, the belief was there. We couldn’t ask for a better record. I think it’s still early in the season and we’ve got areas that we can work on and get better on, but good teams find ways to win.

I think (Wednesday’s 2-1 win against the Sharks) was indicative of that. The play was, in my mind, pretty even. We had some chances early in the first period, we took a 1-0 lead and could have made it easily 2-0. … We get to the third period and they score a goal. I thought we turned our level up.
