New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has a cure for that.

“We start off every morning hearing Bill, and there’s never a time he comes in there and acts like the sky’s shining bright blue and everything’s going to be perfect, just rainbows,” Patriots safety Devin McCourty told USA TODAY Sports in the locker room.

“I think he kind of sets the tone each week. It starts on Monday. No matter how we play on Sunday, we get the real on Monday, and then it’s all about moving on to what we have to do for that next week.

“I think that keeps the team very level-headed and really keeps us kind of on edge. We don’t know what we’re going to hear coming in Monday. Most of the time, we assume we’re going to hear about the bad things we did in the game, not the good. I…
