Dwayne Bacon comically introduced as 'Dwyane Wade'

The Charlotte Hornets’ 40th pick of the draft has an interesting name: Dwayne Bacon. It seems like it’d be something easy to remember, but general manager Rich Cho accidentally introduced Bacon as someone else – someone with three NBA championships.

Cho asked everyone to welcome Dwyane Wade before laughing and quickly correcting his mistake. But the look on Bacon’s face as Cho made the error was amazing.

Someone posted a video on YouTube that shows you the moment and then rewinds it to zoom in on Bacon’s face.

Maybe it was a Freudian slip? I mean, I doubt the Hornets would be too upset if Bacon magically turned into Wade.

Bacon is a 21-year-old guard out of Florida State. Here’s how USA TODAY Sports‘ Adi Joseph graded the pick:

Bacon is a talented player with a big frame who should be better than he tends to be. If the Hornets can get him committed to defense and playing team-oriented basketball, he could be a steal. But he also can cause headaches.

Grade: B
