De'Aaron Fox deletes tweet after Lonzo Ball's injury

Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball will miss Monday night’s Summer League matchup against the Sacramento Kings with a sore groin, according to USA TODAY Sports.

While it’s totally reasonable to play it safe in the Summer League, Ball’s absence from Monday’s game will rob NBA fans of an early rematch with former Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox. After the news was announced, the Kings rookie sent out a not-so-subtle emoji tweet, which has since been deleted.

In their last meeting, Fox dropped a career-high 39 points on Ball to end UCLA’s season (and Ball’s college career) in the Sweet 16. He scored 20 points against Ball in Kentucky’s regular season loss to UCLA at Rupp Arena. But Monday night was supposed to be a tiebreaker of sorts.

Sure, it’s just the Summer League, but the Lakers had attracted unusual excitement around the event. And Lonzo Ball’s rematch with Fox would have been one of the more highly anticipated matchups of…
